Over the past couple of weeks I have been dealing with a very stubborn cold. In an attempt to make a speedy recovery, I went to the age old chicken soup remedy. However, after a few days of still not feeling great my mind got to wondering. "Does chicken soup really do anything?". So I decided to do a little research and basically discovered that chicken soup does NOT actually heal the common cold. It does, however; loosen mucus and keep you nourished and hydrated. Thus, reducing the symptoms of the nasty intruder.
None the less, it's a traditional "cure" that most people swear by and let's be honest. It is a comfort food. Who doesn't enjoy some chicken soup(canned or homemade) while curled up in a blanket and watching your favorite TV shows or old movies.
I say slurp it up and have a "you" day or three and whether it cures the cold, reduces the symptoms or just makes your soul feel better. You're no worse off than you were to begin with and now you have nourished and hydrated your body. :)
