BRILLIANT is Brilliant

While moving and remodeling in the past few weeks I came across a book. Up until just last night I had really paid very little attention to this book. I knew I owned it, I knew that it had to do with cooking but it didn't have any pictures of the recipes that were featured, so I didn't pick it up and give it a read. Last night with nearly everything complete, I was placing books on a shelf and noticed it. With nothing else to really do I decided to go ahead and see what it was all about. So glad I did.

This book, while not your typical cookbook, could quite literally be used as a reference book to both the beginning cook as well as a more seasoned cook. It offers flavor profiles of almost everything under the sun, it has 900 recipes, it offers solutions, substitutions, ideas, must have utensils, how to use certain kitchen gadgets and equipment, and it also offers a multitude of "Chef's tips".

I know that "Brilliant" is not a new book and is actually an older publication. I have checked online and found it still available and would highly recommend. The only downfall to the book is the lack of any photos other than some basic illustrations. As I pointed out before though, this could truly be used as a reference guide and learning tool.

Give it a try. Check a library and see if they may have it in stock.
