New Things I Love I Had Never Tried
I am thrilled to FINALLY be able to add something new to the blog after suffering from a lull in inspiration. While going through my writers/eaters block, I began trying to truly think of things that, not only I have never eaten. But also things that I would never dream of putting in my mouth. Which doesn't really leave a lot ;) Deciding to start small and not go crazy eating something outrageous. I opted for a childhood enemy and even a lot of adults tend to shy away from. Brussel Sprouts! NOOOOOO!!!!!
I took to the internet to pull up a recipe and chose one that would still hold true to the actual flavor of the tiny little heads of cabbage. I opted for a simple roasted sprout with just olive oil, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper. Roasted in a 400 degree oven for 35-40 minutes. With heavy reservations and a slightly open mind, I cut one of the small spheres in half and had my first ever taste of the dreaded brussel sprout! I LOVED IT!!! so simple the roasting created a caramelization on the outside edges while the inside remained buttery and soft. I served these tasty green rounds with a stuffed loin chop and some jasmine rice(which I believe is the ONLY rice)! Even as I am typing this up I am so very full that I feel like I could possibly explode.
For those who have never given the sprout a try I strongly urge you to do so. They're not only delicious but also extremely healthy! With a glass of wine raised. I'll eat and drink to that!
